WOMEN'S FOOTBALL IN ARAB COUNTRIES

This is Staab interview about football in Arab countries:

Germany, Monika Staab is considered "a pioneer and engine" of women's football. Former coach of Bahrain, FIFA instructor took over the reins of the women's national team of Qatar in February 2013.

In an interview with FIFA.com, the native of Frankfurt discusses this new challenge, the progress of women's football in the Arab world, the role model and Raul UEFA Women's EURO in Sweden.

Monika, what were your first impressions of the women's game, arriving in Qatar?
I had the opportunity to visit several times there before my appointment. I participated in a mission Cup in October 2012. To be honest, I am impressed by the progress of women's football in the country. The pioneering work as the Chair of the Committee on Women's Sports Qatar Ahlam Salem Mubarak Al Mana begins to bear fruit. Qatar has evolved socially and positive messages are now sent to women. I want to help the country to take a new step in the respect of the local culture. I found excellent conditions of work I came here. I am convinced that we can make things interesting in the context of the development project implemented over five years.

What do you do during that time?
During my career I have followed women's football matches in 63 different countries. Qatar has far superior equipment to what is done in most of the places I visited. Our goal is to exploit this advantage in the next five years. If we can create a well-structured league, the national team will benefit. For this, we must ensure that everyone understands that women's football can bring to the whole society has. The players of the new U-14 train every evening after school. These girls play a vital role because they show that football can be a part of everyday life. On the sporting front, we have already established milestones. Women's national team played its first matches abroad, during a recent trip to the Maldives. We conceded two defeats but the experience is priceless. Now our players are aware of the investment represents a shift at this level. We're looking forward to our first training in Germany.

The organization of the FIFA World Cup 2022 ™ does benefit the Qatari women's football?
We started some interesting discussions with the Supreme Committee, whose members seem to favor the establishment of an academy for women's football. This is encouraging, especially considering that women's football is a relatively new discipline in Qatar since there are only since 2009. However, much remains to be done, particularly in terms of visibility. The 2022 World Cup is a great opportunity to show the whole world the evolution of Qatar. This will have a very positive effect on women's football in the Arab world.

What is the deadline for the Qataris?
This is a very important project for Qatar. Qataris are passionate about football and we can already see that this sport has a profound influence on the Qatari society. For example, Raul performs an outstanding job as ambassador. It embodies European football but also important values such as fair play and respect. The Vision 2030 project for Qatar illustrates perfectly the expectations generated by the World Cup. I think this tournament can change things here, especially for women. Women have to play a more important role in the treatment of conflicts that could threaten the Arab world.

The presence of large international players could contribute to accelerate the development of football in the Arab world?
Raul is an inspiration to men and women. It's impressive to see a star of his caliber working so hard and show such humility. Of course, we'd love to see big names like Marta or Lotta Schelin share their experiences with our players.

Arab countries can it qualify for the FIFA Women's World Cup ™ in the near future?
Women's football has seen a remarkable development in the region since 2006. Jordan is among the eight best teams in Asia and can still hope to qualify for the 2015 edition His presence at this level speaks volumes about the progress made since ten or 15 years. Palestine has a national women's team, which often occurs before a large audience. Overall, women's football is improving. Prejudices falling. At this rate, the Arab countries could compete with the best European teams in 30 years.

You currently attending the UEFA Women's EURO as an observer. What lessons do you draw from this competition?
This tournament marks a turning point for women's football. Teams like the Netherlands, Italy and Spain have yielded interesting results. There are still ten years, no one would imagined at this level. Other countries, like Germany, are beginning to understand that differences continue to shrink. As a passionate longtime women's football, I found this fantastic competition. The host country has done an exemplary job and the atmosphere in the stadiums is fabulous.

FOOTBALL

THE RANSOM OF SUCCESS!
Football is the preferred sport in the world with more than 265 million players and 38 million licensees around the world. 7% of the European population practice football.  Asia, with more than 85 million players (male & female), is in the lead, before Europe with 63 million, followed by the 48 African, North American and Central 45 and South America 29. The number of clubs has been worldwide more than 400 000 and the number of teams reached 2 million even more.

A CONCEPT SIMPLE
Football is a sport within the reach of all fronts. Football is a collective sport ball, between two teams. The principle is to penetrate, without using hands or arms, a ball in the opponent's goal. Each goal to score a point, the objective being to score more goals than the opposing team to win

AN EASY ACCESS SPORT
Football is a sport that can be practiced anywhere outdoors, although some variants allow playing indoors. Playgrounds are multiple and the widespread informal practice of the playground where improvised land boundaries of the goals can be symbolized by objects, public spaces (streets, squares...) in the land dedicated to this activity. This sport requires little resources, hardware or accessories: a ball and shoes of sport to begin and the rules are easily accessible (do get the ball into the opponent's goal and prevent their opponent to score). The rules are easily to know, compared to some other sports where attacks may be limited in time, limited bullets keys, passes prohibited in certain directions...

A FUN ACTIVITY
Football is a game. It is associated with the notions of pleasure, sharing and fun. It can be practiced in leisure even if same team players do not have the same level.

A SPORT ACCESSIBLE TO YOUTH
From age 6, it is possible to practice football in club; the ability to kick a ball with the foot is assimilating very early. It is by the discovery of the ball that awakens childhood taste of football, in a park, a house or a garden, by tapping in the ball and becoming aware of the direction it is taking and exchange it creates with one another. Football is in France the favorite sport of 6-14 years. It teaches respect, competitive spirit, tolerance, self-confidence and the taste of the effort.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER : playoffs !

Soccer as we usually say at International soccer Foundation, soccer is a world. So today we have chosen to talk about soccer in USA hoping that it will help some of our viewers.

The 2014 MLS regular season ended this weekend, bringing in new holiday already nineteen franchises. For the ten survivors, up to now the playoffs with Seattle, Los Angeles and DC United favorites. Thierry Henry at the end of the contract, this is the last opportunity to try to win a title with the Red Bulls.

Eastern Conference: a turn-off for Henry and the Red Bulls
For those of you who do not follow soccer too much to the North American sauce, we need you file a quick refresher course. So here it is: the MLS is a closed league - it even if you must know - whose season is divided into two parts. As with all sports there, there is so first regular season with a geographical division into two conferences east-west, then comes the moment of the play-offs to reach a super final between survivor each conference. It's not super hard once you grabbed the thing, although with a subtlety in the case before us before the playoffs strictly speaking, there is in what might be called MLS a play-off between the fourth to the fifth of each conference. Match a "one shot", with the home field advantage in the fourth. So then the winner faces the first of the conference and the second faces the third matches in this round-trip time before the conference finals and the final super called "MLS Cup". So in terms of the turn-off to the east, he will play this week between the New York Red Bulls and the defending champion, Sporting Kansas City, who has a little screwed up his end of the regular season. Coincidence, the two teams also competed this weekend and New Yorkers, deprived of Henry, who was absent last minute (achilles problem a priori), have emerged thanks to a brace Bradley Wright-Phillips, his 26th and 27th goals of the season (record of Roy Lassiter and Chris Wondolowski tied). A victory that was not enough to nab the third place Columbus Crew. Before DC United finished the season on top, with four units ahead of New England Revolution. So we are dealing with a trio rather surprising compared to what was announced earlier this year, in an Eastern Conference that loves indecision and suspense. Among the teams eliminated, if acquired for quite some time now that Montreal had missed the season (end Quebecers last 19 teams involved and Marco Di Vaio has played the last game of his career Saturday), we expected much better Toronto neighbor, is still missing after the play-offs despite substantial resources invested (recruitment of Defoe and Bradley in particular). The franchise in Ontario are definitely not happen ...

The program of the playoffs: DC United against the winner of the New York Red Bulls / Sporting Kansas City / New England Revolution against Columbus Crew

Western Conference: Vancouver saved the honor of Canada
Pacific side, Seattle has resisted big return from Los Angeles wins the Supporters' Shield trophy which honors the team that tops at the end of the regular season, the two conferences combined (Seattle ended the season with 64 points against 59 for DC United, first in the East). An honorary title awarded for the Sounders, who manage some games show some great control and tactical maturity still too rare in MLS. This is a just reward for the largest public and one of the hottest League (average 44,000 spectators), which has the chance to see the most beautiful home doublet attack involved 19 training : Obafemi Martins associated with Clint Dempsey. Seattle logically the favorite for MLS Cup, but will have to watch out for Los Angeles Galaxy, back in the game with a gun series that began in late August and ending in mid-October (8 wins and 2 draws in 10 games). Robbie Keane plant still regularly, helped by Landon Donovan, future retiree who would finish his career on a sixth individual (the fourth with the Galaxy). Third, we find the Real Salt Lake, always solid, quite efficient discretion. In terms of turn-off, it will pit Dallas on Wednesday, fourth in Vancouver who succeeded in extremis to keep the last qualifying spot in front of Portland, who also coveted, thanks to a last narrow victory this week -end. Whitecaps thus save the honor of Canada in the competition. Regarding teams eliminated the uncertainty around the case of Chivas USA, a loss franchise goes wrong and might have to disappear - at least in the state - in the near future. Recall, however, that two new franchises will emerge from the next season: New York City FC (with David Villa and Frank Lampard) and Orlando City SC (with Kaka).

The program of the playoffs: Seattle Sounders match against the winner of the FC Dallas / Vancouver Whitecaps - Los Angeles Galaxy against Real Salt Lake

But also ...
One last word to indicate that the Champions League Concacaf, the group stage ended with a 2 of 5 MLS franchises. The Montreal Impact and DC United have qualified and will face Pachuca (Mexico) and Alajuelense (Costa Rica) in the quarter-finals will take place in February and March next year respectively. In contrast, New York, Kansas City and Portland are eliminated.

HIDEOUS FACE OF FOOTBALL IN AFRICA

Despite the number always important, of talented players in Africa, people have not guessed that behind these outstanding players: Samuel Etoo, Toure, there is a big ocean.

African football has a screaming bad: limited time offer not lack of infrastructures, but they want of decent infrastructure for quality labor exists.

In 1990 an African team (The Cameroon) arrives for the first time in the quarter-final of the World Cup. Cameroonian teams were made up of much more local player’s titular than professional. The name of Roger Milla told you anything? At that time, a big name in world football (Sir Bobby Charlton) went to Cameroon to see the secret of the success of Cameroon. Being in Yaounde, he went to a neighborhood are a marvel, where the Olympic Mvolye team is practicing. You have to know that: Nkunde Emmanuel, Njaka Beanka, Eta Tate, Stephen, and Victor Ndip Akem all defenders of that National team where playplaying in Olympic of Mvolye. After a training session, he said: I am very, very surprised with the quality of Cameroonian players and their performance at the World Cup that, in this country we are playing and is training to play football on sandy pitch and field earth. I came to see the secret of their success is unthinkable.

Yes! What surprised Bobby is the daily of young African player and his football. If you add to that the mismanagement of sports policy, you will understand that these players, I mean players who come out of these countries have an Iron mental. We wonder why not even let the management of Federations to former footballers because they lived similar situations, they have the expertise needed to lift these countries out of those endless No! For those who run their football treats them very often illiterate. Consequence, footballers plays football, politicians and leaders of federations become richer.

The worst thing is the mass exodus of African footballers to Europe, Asia, etc.... add to that indebtedness of families already living in unbearable poverty. What about the face that returns the practice of this discipline of these countries? National championships are struggling, shaken by unprecedented uncertainty, premiums homeopathic dose, lack of sports policy, with the coronation mass exodus of players. Understandably, the sport subsisting on the willingness of some people who plead without expecting anything in return, presents a bleak image, a critical state in which the sanctions should now be directed.

Governments in these countries had to fight to re-brand their image, a record of all outrages. The proof, behaviors of African players in World Cup (Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria). If only this was a mismanagement problem, it would be resolved fairly quickly. It is a planning problem. Over there, things manage day to day challenges all management sciences. We will call it improvisation. But the toughest part is that even in improvisation some experience takes. For us it is nothing other than the Witchcraft. We may say that these players are not patriotic because premiums CLAIM but let us be serious. How comes that players play and leaders are already planning their prime and not that for the actors. Add to this a lack of vision; you will see that African football will die if the thing does not do otherwise.
